The stray mother kept returning to the same harsh patch of an industrial area, disappearing beneath thorny brush and concrete rubble at the base of an electrical pylon.

From a distance, she looked like another hungry dog searching for scraps. Up close, the reason for her loyalty to the dangerous spot became clear: hidden inside a dirt den were her newborn puppies.
